When I find something I love, I always want to share it with everyone I know. So now begins a semi-regular series of things I love.

My latest fave toy is my new Flip Video 30 min camcorder. It's listed on Amazon right now for a crazy low price and with shipping I ended up paying less than $80CAD.

amazon_flip.jpg
Jim wasn't thrilled at the fact that I purchase a video camera being as we already have one but for me this one is totally different. We have had our video camera for 2 years and I have yet to use it. It has way too many features and buttons, I have no idea to download the videos and, by the time you get it in it's case, it's too clunky to regularly have with you.

In comes the new flip video.... it's the size of a small point & shoot camera so I can throw it in my purse and not even notice it's in there. It's super easy to use - press the power button and then press the big red button to start recording and the big red button a second time to stop recording. It comes with a pop-out USB stick built in so it's really easy to get the videos on your computer. Each video downloads as an individual file which means you don't even have to do any editing to get just the part you want.

Have I convinced you yet? :) I can't say enough great things about it.

Here is the first clip I videoed with my flip - Jim and Angelo doing some alphabets. Consider yourself forewarned... I have a total cutie. And I am aware that this clip is likely something only a mama (or a grandma) would love. :) It's a bit shaky but I've improved on that a bit since I first got it.

Yep!! I own it and couldn't agree more. We own a nice Sony recorder but never use it because converting the videos from the mini disc to the computer always seems to involve glitches. The vimeo has increased our recording by a ton!!! So glad I'm not missing out on our kids growing up anymore. ;)

I've always wondered about the flips. I'm glad you like it. I can't see the video you posted for some reason though. :(

Oh, I love that video!! What a cutie pie he is! And Jim is hilarious!! You can tell Angelo adores him!

Colin really, really wants a video camera. I wonder if this does what he wants and plugs into the tv and records off the tv. I think it's called input recording. I should check it out.

This past weekend we travelled to Thetis Island for the wedding of a good friend of mine (congratulations Steph!). Going to Thetis Island was the thrill of a lifetime for a two year old who loves boats and planes and would gladly spend the entire day outside if he could.

You have to love the look on his face when he finds out he gets to ride a ferry boat for the first time.

_MG_4999.jpgAs soon as we got there it was nap time (mean mama!) but as soon as he was up we were heading out to kick the soccer ball and throw rocks in the water. There's nothing better than turning over a rock and seeing the crabs scatter.

_MG_5017.jpg
and then showing your mama what you just did.

_MG_5014.jpg
If you're looking through any of my marketing pieces or my online galleries you won't usually find any images of Angelo. That's because my very favourite images of Angelo are the ones that only a mama coud love - but that's what a blog is for, right? :)

Like this one. I adore the way he's looking up at his dad. They were watching a float plane come in and Angelo was full of questions and a bit unsure about the loud noise the plane was making which is why he's in mid-pinch (he pinches when he's nervous).

It doesn't seem to matter how many resolutions I make, this blog always seems to remain neglected. It's not that I don't have lots I want to post - tips on what to wear, why it's important to have family portraits done, cool ways to display your images in your home, not to mention all the client sessions I haven't blogged - but with everything there is to do, blogging always moves to the bottom of the list.

So I've decided to let you guys make me accountable. From now until the end of June, if I don't post at least two times per week (a week is Sunday to Saturday), the first person to email and call me on it gets a free session.  Hopefully that will move blogging closer to the top of my list!

And because no post is complete without a photograph, here is Angelo trying to show us how old he is. For the longest time he hasn't been able to hold his other fingers down in order to make a two. Now he can but it takes a lot of concentration. :)

Happy New Year everyone!

_MG_2913.jpg

I wanted to do a family portrait session on New Years Day to mark the beginning of the new year but we ended up staying in our pyjamas all day so I'll have to find some time in the next week to do it. At least this picture is truly indicative of how we spent the first day of 2009!

Merry Christmas! I took a bit of a blog vacation as we've been busy enjoying family, playing with new toys and being snowed in (enough already!). Here's just a few snapshots of our past week.

_MG_2741.jpg

Angelo was in heaven tearing open all his presents on Christmas Eve (with Jim's side of the family) and then again on Christmas morning (with my side of the family). He wasn't really old enough this year to anticipate the day he would wake up after Santa had been there, but he was definitely old enough to enjoy unwrapping and then testing out all his toys.

He really does love everything but this garbage truck from Grandma & Grandpa has been a special favourite. Angelo loves garbage trucks and will (loudly!) point them out to us whenever he sees one.

_MG_2798.jpg

Zio Dino felt the need for a little payback with this drumset. We may have bought our nieces some slightly noisy toys over the years and he's been waiting for the day that Angelo was old enough for the drums.

_MG_2810.jpg

I'll be back in the new year with more posts. Everyone have a happy and safe New Year's Eve!

On October 25th we left Vancouver for the sunny beaches of the Mayan Riviera. Not only did we have a great family vacation, but the main reason for our trip was to be a part of my sister's wedding.

I know a lot of you have been asking for pictures but I was waiting for this new blog to post them so you could see multiple pictures in the same post.

I'd love to say I have pictures of Amanda and Ryan's beautiful wedding on the beach but I was in the wedding party so wasn't able to take any. I do, however, have lots of pictures of the rest of our trip.

A six hour flight plus a two hour bus ride was a lot of traveling for Angelo but once we were there he had a great time. With the exception of nap time, we were outside from 7AM until 9PM every day - he was in heaven.

Quite often we'd be dressed and out of our hotel room before the restaurants opened so we'd start off our day with Angelo's favourite thing - riding the "bus".

_MG_2109.jpg

The resort was actually made up of three different resorts and there were trams to shuttle you from place to place. Angelo loved them! Even if we didn't need to go to the other resort we would catch a ride to see where it would take us.

Then it was off to the pool.

_MG_1955.jpg

Notice I said pool and not beach. Angelo was freaked out by the sand. And he didn't really want to be in the water either. But he was completely happy to sit on the edge and splash around all day.

Because we were in Mexico for my sister's wedding, there were lots of family members traveling with us. Which means lots of people available to play with Angelo. That is definitely the way to travel! Jim and I were able to enjoy some romantic dinners on our own while my parents watched Angelo and we even snuck a couple afternoons on the beach, just the two of us.

Angelo loved being able to see his grandma and grandpa daily. Even though they only live 20 minutes away from us and we Skype nightly, it's not the same as their door being 15 feet from ours.

_MG_2091vign.jpg

Because our week long vacation started on the 25th, it meant that we would be in Mexico for Halloween. We really weren't sure how Angelo would like dressing up but took a costume along anyway.

_MG_2246vign.jpg

He loved it!

It was great to have a week together with nothing to do but hang out together and relax. And congratulations to Amanda and Ryan on their wedding!

Jenn, we love your Mexico pictures - Angelo was adorable as Superman! We were so happy to have you (and Angelo as our ringbearer of course) be a part of our wedding...it's too bad there weren't two of you though so that you could have been in the wedding and taken pictures for us!!

Cate, the picture above is actually not of me but of our other sister Nicole and her boyfriend Jay. Ryan and I wish we had more time to hang out in the pool with everyone but we were too busy planning the wedding and then off enjoying married life!

There's nothing like trying to get a Christmas card picture at the last minute, especially in Vancouver in December when you just need to cross your fingers, hoping for a non-rainy day. And we completely lucked out last Sunday with some gorgeous sun.

Of course I got one that made the Christmas card, but the outtakes are always my favourite.

outtakes3.jpg

I can't help but smile at his little chipped tooth. It happened a couple weeks ago. We're not sure when exactly but this kid is all boy. Turn your back for a minute and you'll hear "big jump" followed shortly after by "bonk".

_MG_2550v2.jpg

And this was me being a mean momma. As a photographer's kid he gets mighty sick of seeing the camera up to my face and I have to resort to trickery to get the shot I want. So I may have said "look at the dog" in order to get his face to light up and look at me. And then kept clicking when I got his super cute "I don't know" answer.
